Interesting history of the British airship R 100 on its visit to Canada in 1930. Designed by Barnes Wallis it was a successful design unlike the government sponsored R101 which crashed on its maiden flight. Profusely illustrated with b/w photos and comes with a 45 rpm record of 2 versions of the “R100 song” (usually lost in other books) written in 1930 in honour of the event. Fascinating material. Hardbound with d/j (one small tear), excellent condition. *(a complimentary cd copy of the 45rpm record is now included with the book).

at the end of ww 1, poland fought a war of independence against russia. a group of volunteer americans formed the 'kosciuszko squadron' (named after a polish officer who served in the revolutionary war) to fight for poland. flying a mix of allied and austrian fighters they fought bravely to repel the soviet forces intent on reoccupying the country. photos. hardbound with d/j. d/j spine is sun faded. otherwise in excellent condition.

the author documents the german bomber campaign on england after the rfc defeated the zeppelin raids. these attacks used a variety of twin engined bombers, the most famous being the gotha g. iv. the 'giant' bombers developed for long range bombing and used against britain are also covered. the british public thought that the rfc weren't doing enough to stop the raids and letting the germans bomb at will. meanwhile the germans complained about how aggressive the rfc night fighters and anti aircraft fire were and in constant fear of interception and being shot down. photos, maps and illustrations. card covers. small chip to top of spine and a stain from an old price sticker on cover. good copy otherwise.
