A fascinating account of an early pioneer in civil aviation, Herbert Brackley, compiled by his wife after his early death in a swimming accident. After a distinguished career in the RNAS flying heavy bombers in WW1 and RAF in WW 2, he set out to prove a number of pioneering transportation flights to Africa, Australia and North America setting the stage for Imperial Airways to connect the British Empire (later BOAC and BEA). Many photos and maps. Hardbound with d/j. Spine of d/j is lost, but neatly repaired and disguised with remainder protected in clear covering. Very good condition.
